Everyday Prayer Co and The Rosary Card
Howdy! I'm Brennan Costello.
I'm a Catholic Christian from Lincoln, Nebraska. I'm also a normal guy, college teacher, small-business enthusiast, taco lover, and struggling sinner.
Here's a picture of me and my fiancé Lauren. I really out kicked my coverage with her.
The mission behind Everyday Prayer is to simply help Christians pray.
Paul asks us in his letter to the Thessalonians: "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
Pray without ceasing? This is a big ask from Paul. I've found some days that prayer goes really well, other days are a struggle.
I think prayer is like a muscle, it's something we get better at as we continue to do it day after day. Just like in any relationship, when we spend more time in conversation with our Lord, the conversation gets easier and better.
It's my hope that some of the tools and resources from Everyday Prayer Co helps you 'pray without ceasing.'
The story of how Everyday Prayer Co began:
This started as a project to learn the Rosary. If you aren't familiar, the Rosary is an powerful meditative prayer.
The Rosary is a prayer mostly commonly used in the Catholic Church, but I've found it's a great prayer for all Christians because it's so rooted in scripture. It adopted from a group of third-century monks who used to pray all 150 Psalms every day. They needed a way to keep count and started with stones and prayer beads. Since then it's been developed over thousands of years in to the Rosary as we know it today.
I love to pray the Rosary because its a meditative prayer. Instead of feeling like I have to say the right words to God, the Rosary gives me the words to pray so that my mind can meditate on Jesus or on what in my life needs prayers.
After learning the Rosary and memorizing it's prayers, I wanted a way to bring that prayer with me and prompt me to pray it each day. And I wasn't a big fan of carrying an easily tangled string of beads in my pocket.
I was brainstorming and thought about a Rosary that I could keep in my wallet, something I already carry with me every day. That's when I experimented with a wallet rosary card.
My first product was inspired by Brad Kendrex - the owner of walletrosary.com (if you'd like to see some other wallet rosary designs be sure to check out his site!)
It's now spread into an opportunity to create more products that help people pray everyday. So if you've never prayed the Rosary before, I encourage you to give it a try!
I'd love to hear from you!
